Turning one is such a big milestone, and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a cake smash! Sweet baby boy Ashton recently came into my Lexington, KY studio for his Cake Smash n Splash Session, and it was the perfect way to honor his very first birthday.
From the moment he arrived, Ashton was full of personality and ready to explore. We started with a few portraits to capture him at this fun age—those curious eyes, little smiles, and all the expressions that make one-year-olds so full of joy. Then came the fun part: the cake smash!
Cake smash sessions are a wonderful way to celebrate a first birthday. Some babies dive right in, while others take their time figuring out what to do with the colorful cake in front of them. Ashton gave us the perfect mix—carefully exploring at first, then happily smashing, tasting, and making the sweetest mess. For Ashton’s milk bath, we used the same setup as his cake smash, which made the transition seamless. He splashed, played, and giggled, giving us some of the cutest shots of the day. The milk bath also helps little ones clean up after all that cake fun, making it both adorable and practical!
