There’s something so magical about photographing newborns in their very first weeks of life, and Baby Ayla’s session was the perfect example of why I love what I do. At just 12 days old, she came into my Lexington, KY studio for her Family Deluxe Newborn Session, and she was an absolute dream to photograph.

During the first part of her session, Ayla slept soundly, giving me the opportunity to capture those soft, delicate newborn portraits that parents love so much. Wrapped snugly and posed with care, she looked so peaceful, and every tiny detail—from her little fingers to her perfect eyelashes—was highlighted in her portraits. These classic, sleepy images are ones her family will treasure for a lifetime.

The Family Deluxe Newborn Session is designed to give families the best of both worlds. The first portion focuses on the baby alone, styled with props, wraps, and accessories from my studio collection. Then, we transition into the family portion, where parents and siblings get to step in front of the camera with their newest addition. It’s the perfect way to document not only the newborn stage but also the joy and connection of your growing family.

For Ayla’s session, the solo portraits were just the beginning. Once it was time for family photos, this sweet girl decided to wake up and show us her beautiful eyes. Wide awake and alert, she looked straight at the camera and gave us the most curious little expressions. Awake newborns often bring so much personality to the gallery, and Ayla’s family portion was filled with love, connection, and memories that will be cherished forever.

These are the moments I love capturing—how tiny a baby looks in their parents’ arms, the way siblings gaze at their new sister, and the quiet joy of a family welcoming their newest member.
